Werner Lieberknecht Dresden . Studio portrait: Falk, day before exodus

A moment of relaxation
For some time I have been taking portraits of friends and acquaintances, who I photograph using a large-format camera (format 18 cm × 24 cm). In this process the model stands in front of the camera for six seconds with the aperture open. The face relaxes. It is not only the momentary expression that is captured. In the early days of photography long exposure times were often required for portraits. For me it is interesting to see that the portraits have a different look to them despite the similar exposure times, and that my presence is also apparent.
