Ingrid Hartmetz Le Crete (Italy) . Campsite at Figline

From my diary: Finding this landscape here, that reminds me so much of home, of the gentle hills to the north of Frankfurt, between Libbenichen and Reitwein, where the Oderbruch begins, was a surprise to me. I believe this is homesickness. Now we have to go back. Our visa has almost expired.

Two days later Rudolf and I were already on our way back from Italy to Frankfurt (Oder), increas-ingly uneasy due to the front page pictures of the Italian newspapers. We wanted to finally see the children again and meet friends. We looked forward to this impatiently. On arriving, we found a letter from our youngest son. He had left the GDR with his wife and their young daughter, very sad news for us at that time.
