I made the photograph as part of my 31 year documentation of the Bronx. I returned to the area which later became the site of a new High School, you can probably see it on google maps, the street does not exist anymore.

The block was a place for car stripping, people also lived there in tents. The photograph was made when The Bronx was burning and when a crack epidemic was at its climax.
